Graduate Certificate Participatory Health Research

The curriculum consists of a total of 15 credit hours (4 courses and a research practicum). One core course is required.

Application Process

Current Mizzou Graduate Students: Complete the  Graduate Change of Program Form  and submit the form directly to the Participatory Health Research program director, Dr. Maithe Enriquez. You will be asked to provide selected application materials; however, a formal application through the MU Graduate school is not required.

New/Returning Mizzou Graduate Students: Students new to Mizzou or former Mizzou graduate students returning after a semester break or longer, should complete the Graduate Application for Admission. Submit an application fee of $110 to MU Graduate School when you apply. Please include the application materials listed below in your online application.

Required Application Materials

Two professional recommendation letters are required and must be submitted through the online application. At least one recommendation must be from a faculty member with a graduate degree (e.g., MS, DNP, PhD, MD, etc) who can address your academic performance and potential to succeed in a graduate program.

Curriculum Vitae/Resume – The most current version is required. Please include all formal educational preparation, licensure/certifications, work experience including clinical practice, teaching, research, and committee work, honors/awards, publications, presentations, grant writing, and professional activities.  

Essay – Should be well-written, clear and concise, not more than 2 pages, and include the following:

  • Reasons for applying to the PHR Graduate Certificate program.
  • Strengths you bring to the program.
  • Statement of personal career goals/research interest and you feel this graduate certificate fits with your career goals/interests.

Nursing Supplemental Information (built into the Graduate School application).

Unofficial Transcripts – As part of the application submission process, all applicants are required to upload unofficial copies of all post-secondary transcripts to the online application. Official transcripts are only required if accepted by the academic program.

A copy of license for health care professionals (e.g., R.N., M.D.), if relevant.

Documentation of English-Language Proficiency (for non-native English-speaking applicants only).
