Three graduate degree programs at the University of Missouri continue to be recognized among the best in the nation while also rising in the rankings in the 2023 Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News & World Report.

The overall graduate program at MU’s College of Education & Human Development rose nine spots to No. 32 while the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the Sinclair School of Nursing rose 12 spots to No. 35. The College of Engineering’s overall graduate program ranked No. 95, up 13 spots from 2022.

“This is good news for students interested in furthering their education beyond undergraduate studies at Mizzou,” said Latha Ramchand. “Our highly regarded graduate programs are an important part of our mission and support our research endeavors that improve lives across the state, nation and the world.”

According to U.S. News, nearly all the rankings and data are derived from in-depth reputation and statistical surveys conducted in fall 2021 and early 2022 of each program in the six largest graduate school disciplines.

“This recognition is a testament to the quality work our students, staff and faculty have accomplished in the past year,” said Chris Riley-Tillman, interim dean of the MU College of Education and Human Development. “We are proud to once again be the highest performing education college in the state of the Missouri and to be recognized as a national leader.”

“I am pleased that the high quality of Sinclair School of Nursing’s DNP program is recognized by US News & World Report,” said Sarah Thompson, dean of the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. “It is a tribute to our faculty.”

“Future students considering Mizzou can be confident that they’ll receive a high-quality engineering education while also reaping the benefits of being on an interdisciplinary campus,” said Noah Manring, dean and Ketcham Professor of the College of Engineering. “Receiving this type of comprehensive experience prepares our students to become leaders in the field.”

According to U.S. News, the statistical data collected for the rankings includes both input and output measures. Input measures reflect the quality of students, faculty and other resources brought to the education process. Output measures signal an institution’s success in managing that process, including how many graduates achieve desired results, such as passing the bar exam or receiving a high-paying job offer.
