All NFLP recipients MUST complete specific graduate level education courses as part of the NFLP award criteria. Coursework varies depending on the recipient’s enrolled area of study:
For recipients seeking a MS in Nursing Education, required coursework includes:
- N8854 Teaching Strategies in Nursing (3 credits),
- N8864 Curriculum Development in Nursing (3 credits),
- N8874 Evaluation Strategies in Healthcare (3 credits), AND then take
- N8950 Teaching Nursing Practicum (4 credits)
For recipients seeking a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree who do NOT have a MS in Nursing education, required coursework includes:
- Completion of 6 credit hours of didactic nurse educator courses- may select from the courses listed below:
- N8854 Teaching Strategies in Nursing (3 credits),
- N8864 Curriculum Development in Nursing (3 credits)
- N8874 Evaluation Strategies in Healthcare (3 credits)
AND then take - Either N8950 Teaching Nursing Practicum (4 credits) OR N8954 Distance-Mediated Teaching Nursing Practicum (4 credits)
For recipients seeking a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree and HAVE already obtained either a MS in Nursing Education or a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education, required coursework includes:
- 3 credit hours of graduate level education coursework approved by your advisor from the School of Science and Learning Technology (SISTL), College of Education, Sinclair School of Nursing, or other approved education course not previously enrolled in AND then take
- N8954 Distance-Mediated Teaching Nursing Practicum (4 credits)
