Internal Scholarships

The Sinclair School of Nursing offers a number of internal nursing-specific scholarships for undergraduate clinical nursing majors, graduate, and post-graduate students. These awards are made possible through direct giving to the Sinclair School of Nursing by alumni and friends.

A call for applications is made each year during the spring semester for the following academic year. To apply, students should complete the MU Annual Scholarship Application and the School of Nursing’s Supplemental Questions. Since some scholarships require proof of financial need, students are also encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Deadlines

Each year, applications and supplemental questions are accepted through April 1 for all traditional students and June 1 for accelerated, RN-BSN, and graduate students.

For the best chance at receiving scholarships, students are encouraged to complete the MU Annual Scholarship Application and the FAFSA by Mizzou’s priority deadline of February 1.

MU Annual Scholarship Application

The MU Annual Scholarship Application should be completed via MyZou. Instructions for completing the application are found through the Office of Student Financial Aid. If needed, you may log back in at a later time to complete or update your application.

In the box labeled “Write an essay,” please write a personal statement in 200 words or lessthat includes:

  • Your area of study(traditional, accelerated, RN-BSN, MSN, DNP, PhD)
  • Your clinical area of interest(pediatrics, oncology, etc.)
  • 1-2 career/academic goals
  • 1-2 examples of community, professional, and/or academic activities in which you are currently involved

*If you experience issues with the application, please contact Student Financial Aid at 573-882-7506 or MizzouSFA@missouri.edu

School of Nursing’s Supplemental Questions

In February, or when the School of Nursing’s Scholarship Office receives your scholarship application information from Student Financial Aid, the School of Nursing will send an email with a link to their Supplemental Questions. Completing these questions will ensure your best chances of receiving scholarships, as they gather additional information to help match you to available scholarships that are specific to the Sinclair School of Nursing.

FAFSA

Many scholarships available through the School of Nursing require proof of financial need, so students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA for the upcoming academic year at their earliest convenience. February 1 is Mizzou’s priority deadline for completing the FAFSA.

*International students should not complete the FAFSA, as this can cause problems or delays in the scholarship application process.
