Dr. Alice Kuehn

Dr. Alice F. Kuehn, associate professor emerita at the University of Missouri’s Sinclair School of Nursing, is recognized as the 2026 Honorary Alumna for her impact on nursing education, research and community health.
Throughout her distinguished career, Kuehn represents the values of collaboration, compassion and service. As principal investigator for a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant on differentiated nursing practice, she brought together clinical and academic partners to strengthen teamwork across health care settings. Her later work promoting culturally competent nursing connected schools in the United States, Canada and Mexico, expanding understanding of global health and preparing nurses to care for increasingly diverse populations.
Colleagues and former students alike describe Kuehn as a dedicated mentor and meticulous leader whose guidance shaped countless nursing careers. Her teaching and public health outreach reached communities across Missouri, including initiatives at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall and the clinic at the Higbee Senior Center.
Following her retirement in 2010, Kuehn continued her ministry of care as the faith community nurse at St. Peter Parish in Jefferson City for 18 years. Today, she co-partners a regional task force to advance faith community nursing and health ministries across 38 counties.
Through her leadership, compassion and vision, Kuehn continues to embody the mission and spirit of Mizzou Nursing — improving health, uplifting communities and inspiring others to serve.
