Venous Ulcers
Testing Effects of Position
and Compression

Chronic venous insufficiency, a common cardiovascular disease in the elderly, causes changes in the skin that result in poor blood flow, swelling and painful leg ulcers.

The purpose of this research is to study the effects of compression bandaging and elevation on leg circulation in persons with a venous ulcer and healthy adults.

Particpation in this study involves a
two-hour screening and a six-hour
laboratory visit to the MU Sinclair
School of Nursing.

Volunteers will be compensated
for participating in this study.
