Professional organizations: Sigma Theta Tau Hobbies: Sewing, knitting, gardening and my grandchildren Family: Husband, three sons and three daughters, and 10 grandchildren Greatest life lesson learned: Never take any day with a loved one for granted Original hometown: Verona, Missouri -- population 400 Favorite subject in nursing school: Med/Surg Favorite movie of all time: Sound of Music Most influential mentor or teacher: Mona Laird, RN Most embarrassing moment: Went to my daughter's mother-daughter weekend and I wanted to impress all of her sorority sisters and their mothers. I walked out of the bathroom with an 8-foot long piece of toilet paper attached to my shoe and walked across a dance floor. My daughter was horrified! Future plans: Continue to grow the programs at the rehabilitation hospital I opened in May, 2007 and build two to three more before I retire. Most people don't know me is: I applied to be a nun in a Benedictine Convent. I was turned down!
