Karen Rhodes
Degree(s): 8th-semester traditional BSN student Professional organizations: member of MU chapter Delta Gamma Additional Hobbies: painting, sketching, hiking, cooking and photography Family: Alan and Terry Rhodes, parents; sister, Paula, who is an actress and film producer; Bandit, a papillon . Greatest life lesson learned: Things have a way of working out. It may not be obvious right away, but there is the chance to grow, adapt, and gain new perspective with every hardship or blessing. Original hometown: Florissant, Missouri Favorite subject in nursing school: I absolutely loved three of the pre-requisites: anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. In the nursing program itself – I really enjoyed the Mental Health section. Favorite movie of all time: What Dreams May Come Most influential mentor or teacher: Barbara White – her generosity, sincerity, perseverance, and compassion are truly inspiring. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from her this past summer of 2007. Most embarrassing moment: when I realized at the very end of the day that my jeans had ripped along the seam between the two back pockets, and must have been like that the entire day – I wondered why everyone seemed to be so happy and giggly. Future plans:
Important Web sites: cahokiacreatives.com (Dad's business, talent, and passion) Most people don't know is that I …: played my very first sport when I was 17, I was a varsity offensive lacrosse player. |
