COLUMBIA , Mo. After completing a business degree, Chris Lemberger chose to change his life and his career by going into nursing. His personal edict has been “leave the world a better place than how you found it.” Before entering the nursing profession he doesn't remember a single time going home and feeling like he had made a difference.

Today, that has all changed. He reads every article he can get his hands on, takes any class he can to further his education and pushes his instructors so he can absorb everything they have to teach. His future plans include becoming a nursing instructor – to give back to the profession that has forever changed his life.

“Chris is an excellent student with both didactic and clinical skills, and he asks questions on a level that is much deeper than the average student,” said Pam Evans-Smith, instructor of nursing at the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. “I believe Chris is one of our future nursing leaders. His dedication to the field of nursing is refreshing and admirable, and I would be honored to allow him to care for any member of my family.”

His skill set and high personal standards were the deciding factors in his receiving the Accelerated Student Award for Overall Excellence at the School's annual banquet on April 11.
