COLUMBIA , Mo. Even though Danielle Key has just started her nursing education, she is already learning how large of an impact she can have on those in her care.

A quote that has guided her in choosing the nursing profession simply states that constant attention by a good nurse may be just as important as a major operation by a surgeon. She believes that nursing is a profession that helps people heal. Not just through medical procedures, but through the comfort and care she can provide as their nurse.

“Danielle is an intelligent and articulate individual who demonstrates a solid commitment to her education,” said Beth Traudes, instructor of nursing at the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. “A glance at her resume reveals one of service and leadership within her community. I see many experiences that will contribute to her understanding of the nursing roles as well as to that of a professional.”

Her intelligence and commitment were the deciding factors in her receiving the 5 th -Semester Student Award for Overall Excellence at the School's annual banquet on April 11. She is the daughter of Kevin and Celeste Key of St. Louis , Mo.
