COLUMBIA , Mo. – Todd Pollock, of Washington, Mo., was recently nominated for the 2008 Nursing Alumni Organization's 7th -Semester Nursing Award for Overall Excellence from the Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri. The award recognizes potential for clinical proficiency, academic excellence and professional commitment.

Pollock, a 2005 graduate of St. Francis Borgia, is the son of Joyce and Mark Pollock, Sr.

“The decision to become a nurse was not made all at once, but it has been a long process of influences that started as a young child and took more concrete form in high school and college,” said Pollock. “I understand nursing is research based and highly technical at times, but this semester I have provided care that transcends evidence-based practice. I believe the reward comes while helping a patient cope with pain in a therapeutic way.”

MU is the largest and oldest campus of the state's major public research institutions. MU's primary mission in research and graduate education provides enhanced opportunities and challenges in the undergraduate areas of humanities, arts and sciences, and selected professional fields.
