President's Message -- March 2007

Greeting Alpha Iota members!

Since December, we have made good strides forward. Our new website is up and going.

Look at it for membership information, board member information and contact numbers, the latest calendar and more. We are going to keep adding to it as we develop. Our newsletters will also be posted there. Eventually, we hope to put all our news on this site and just send you postcard reminders to look at it periodically. We are grateful for Pam Roe at the SSON and our Dean Rose Porter's support for helping to get it up!

At this time, we need your help in voting for new board members. These people have stepped forward as willing to help our chapter keep striding forward. Those who are chosen will be installed in our next General Meeting in March 15, 2007. See our Web site for detail of our program. We will hand out our awards at that meeting as well. Our board has also decided to develop a conference for Mid-Missouri nurses to present Evidence- Based Practice occurring in our area. Shirley Farrah of NODE has agreed to help us in getting this event done. The tentative timeline is to shoot for next Spring 2008. Further information will be coming to the next General Meeting in March. Volunteers will be solicited to join a taskforce to oversee this process. If you are interested, please come to the next meeting or contact me afterwards.

Our board is also planning to have a spring induction ceremony to induct the accelerated program students as these students are missed by our November induction due to their class scheduling. The date is April 13 from 2-3pm in S261. We plan to invite the new inductees attend the School's banquet that evening to be recognized by Dr. Porter. I look forward to seeing you all this March!
