Steve Richardson brought his wife, Sally, to tears, as well as the couple's CPA, when he announced he wanted to honor her nursing career by establishing an endowed faculty fellowship in Sally's name. “We've been married for 27 years and it is the most thoughtful thing he's ever done,” Sally said.

A typical day in St. Louis' Cardinal Glennon's intensive care pediatric unit can include what most are only used to seeing on ER: car accident victims, kids with gunshot wounds, children fighting cancer. Danielle Smith helps children through this type of intense pain on a day-to-day basis.

Verna and Jim Rhodes
Emeritus professor V. James Rhodes and wife Verna Adwell Rhodes, associate nursing professor, are a true Mizzou couple. While both retired in 1995 — he from agricultural economics and she from nursing — they continue their involvement with the University and, collectively, have amassed more than 70 years of service.

Curt Canine
After high school, Curt Canine put his interest in nursing on the back burner and studied ministry at Ozark Christian College instead. However, a school-sponsored internship at a Haitian mission hospital, and working in its birthing center, ignited his nursing passion again as he realized health care was his true calling.
