The Nightingale Society
The Nightingale Society was established to reflect the values and beliefs of Florence Nightingale, whose dedication to quality care made her the most influential nurse in history. As society members, each of you reflect these values and beliefs and are positively shaping the health care profession through your financial leadership. Just as Nightingale had a vision of what the nursing profession should be in the 19th Century, you have stepped forward to assist the MU Sinclair School of Nursing in shaping the vision for the nursing profession in the 21st Century. This society is the focal point of efforts to secure the financial future of the school and to elevate us to being a Top School of Nursing in the nation.
Eligibility
Membership is open to alumni, staff and faculty of the University of Missouri-Columbia , as well as friends and MU affiliated non-profit organizations. Joint memberships are available for spouses.
Gifts
Membership eligibility is established through gifts or pledges to any area or areas of need within the School of Nursing and the Nursing Alumni Organization. Gifts may be designated for a specific fund or purpose, or may be made to an unrestricted fund. Donors may also contribute to an existing endowment of fund or request that their gifts be used to establish a new endowment named for the donor or someone else. Distribution from the earnings on the fund are used for the designated purpose of said fund each year. The minimum amount for establishing an endowment at the University is $25,000, payable in an outright gift or a pledge. When an endowment reaches the minimum sum, or a higher amount specified by the donor, the school will receive notification once a year in August of that funds annual distribution which will be made to support the funds stated purpose.
Benefits of Membership
Nightingale Society Members have the satisfaction of knowing that they, like the founding members, are taking the lead role in helping to fund the mission and direction of the School.
