Applying to the RN-to-BSN program

Graduates of associate-degree or diploma programs who are currently licensed, or eligible for licensure, as registered nurses to practice nursing in Missouri, the RN-to-BSN program provides an alternative path toward earning a bachelor’s degree.

An online option is available for nurses who cannot travel to attend traditional campus classes on a regular basis. Students will complete weekly online assignments and will need to visit the Mizzou campus one to two times per semester. Students will have clinical practica for selected courses.

Requirements

To be admitted to the Sinclair School of Nursing’s RN-to-BSN option, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

  • Undergraduate Admissions to Mizzou. Check requirements for admission to the university here.
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be on file with the Admissions Office.
  • A transcript review must be on file.
  • The student must have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • The student must have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for courses taken at Mizzou.
  • The student must have taken the necessary prerequisite courses.
  • Current licensure as an RN in the United States and eligibility for licensure in Missouri must be established.
  • Students entering this program must complete a background check.
  • Students must agree to be interviewed, upon request.

Any student not meeting the above criteria may submit a petition for special consideration. Special consideration may be given to students who have demonstrated unusual motivation toward a nursing career and whose backgrounds demonstrate substantial economic or cultural diversity.
