Applying to the Accelerated BSN program

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the accelerated BSN program, a student must:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field other than nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Provide transcript information for review. Evidence of academic achievement of a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required. Transcripts must be on file with the MU Admissions office at the time of application.
  • Complete the prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of “C” or better. Prerequisite courses may be taken at any accredited college or university. Find out more about course transfers.
  • Complete a statement of career goals, a statement describing the applicant’s view of nursing as a profession, two letters of reference from individuals who can attest to the applicant’s motivation and ability to complete a course of intensive study, and a personal interview.
  • Provide evidence of potential and motivation for nursing.
  • Give evidence of prior work success or ability to handle a fast-paced academic program.
