Nursing Specialty: Family Nurse Practitioner

Interest Area: Family Practice

Sara spends eighty percent of her time in a primary care family practice/rural health clinic located in Fulton, Missouri. She sees a full spectrum of family practice patients, ranging from obstetrics to the nursing home. On the majority of days you will find a student by her side. In addition to being a family nurse practitioner, she is also nationally certified as a geriatric nurse practitioner.

The remaining 20 percent of her time is spent teaching advanced practice nurses at the graduate level. Sara teaches the following courses:

N7140 Advanced Health Assessment and Promotion (Summer Session Only)
N8400 Clinical Management in Primary Health Care I: Adults through Aging
N8410 Clinical Management in Primary Health Care II: Adults through Aging
N8980 Advanced Clinical Nursing Practicum

In May of 2002, graduate students selected Sara to receive the "Most Supportive Faculty" Award.

A Mizzou graduate, Sara obtained her BSN in 1984 and her MS(N) in 1992.
