Research Description: Masters Thesis: Expectations and Perceptions of an Alcohol Treatment Environment: Legally Coerced Versus Non-Legally Coerced Patients

Nursing Specialty: Community Mental Health Nursing

Interest Areas: The interface between religions, the professions, and the public; and health behavior change particularly related to overweight and mental health in children and adults.

Glenda graduated in 1975 with her Bachelors in Nursing from Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri and completed her MS(N) in Community Mental Health Nursing from MU Sinclair School of Nursing in 1986. Throughout her career, she has worked in diverse settings including nursing homes, home health, inpatient medical surgical, psychiatric, forensic and chemical dependency units for children, adolescents and adults. In these settings she had the pleasure of working as a head nurse, service director, staff nurse, director of nursing and staff development, clinical instructor, director of adventure based counseling, primary therapist, consultant and crises assessment coordinator.

In 2001 she joined the faculty at the MU Sinclair of Nursing as a Clinical Instructor in Nursing Outreach and Distance Education, where she developed continuing education programs for practicing nurses. Currently she is course coordinator and instructor of nursing for Mental Health Nursing for the traditional and accelerated programs. During the summer, she is course coordinator for community health nursing for the RN to BSN program.
