Research Description: The effects of intimate partner violence on pregnancy and infant outcomes; smoking cessation during pregnancy; and the interaction of social support and stress on pregnancy and infant outcomes.

Linda Bullock, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a professor of nursing at the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. Bullock, who joined the staff of the University of Missouri in 1997. She is renowned for her research in the field of battering during pregnancy. A published author, an accomplished teacher and a widely respected expert in the field of public health, Bullock completed her bachelor and master's nursing degrees at Texas Women's University in Houston, Texas, and obtained a PhD in public health from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1996. She worked abroad for 10 years in public health in New Zealand, and now teaches in the doctoral program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Since coming to the University of Missouri she has been the principal investigator on two large NIH randomized controlled trials and been the site PI on two additional randomized controlled trials funded by NIH. She is also serving as a co-investigator on nursing and multi-disciplinary grants pertaining to smoking cessation during pregnancy and injury prevention.

Bullock is an active participant in Sigma Theta Tau; the American Nurses Association; the American Public Health Association; the Nursing Research Consortium on Violence & Abuse; and the Nursing Network on Violence & Abuse, International.
