Nursing Specialty: Nursing Education with a focus in Maternal-Newborn, Pediatrics, Mental Health and Medical-Surgical Nursing.

Interest Area: Nursing Education: Distance Education and creation of on-line courses and coursework. Educational and nursing care for underserved health care clients within the U.S. and abroad.

Ruth's previous work experiences include Trauma Nursing, Cardiac Step-down Unit, Organ Transplant Coordinator for the state of Alaska, Pediatrics, Maternal Newborn Nursing and working in an Infertility Clinic. Ruth has been teaching nursing for the past 10 years in a variety of nursing education levels. Her graduate research project involved a research grant that annually evaluates the quality of health care that Missouri offenders are receiving in correctional facilities. She is currently an adjunct clinical instructor at Fulton State Hospital and the VA in the seventh semester mental health nursing course. Ruth is an avid quilter and lives in the Amish community in Clark. She would like to pursue the Nurse Practitioner role, in order to provide care for this and other very underserved populations.
