Guidelines for Appointment,

Reappointment and Promotion of

Regular and Non-Regular Faculty

 

Regular Faculty

Current University of Missouri Academic Tenure Regulations (June 27, 1980) state "...the Board (of Curators) recognizes that matters relating to faculty status are primarily a faculty responsibility. Recommendations in matters of appointment, reappointment, nonreappointment, promotion, tenure, and dismissal shall be by the appropriate faculty through established procedures, followed by action by administrative officers, with final determination by the appointment authority." Guidelines from the University of Missouri Provost's Office set forth "as a condition in approaching promotion and tenure decisions, each department will establish procedure whereby it sets forth, as a part of the initial conditions of an academic appointment, the criteria by which a faculty member will be evaluated and the appropriate weight to be assigned to each criterion of the evaluation process." School of Nursing Faculty Assembly Bylaws list the following as functions of the Appointment, Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee.

Non-Regular Faculty

To more effectively meet the needs of the faculty and students, the MU Sinclair School of Nursing faculty established the non-tenured clinical track in May 1990 for non-regular faculty members. These are members of the faculty with all of the rights and privileges thereof in accordance with MUSSON Faculty Bylaws. All non-regular faculty appointments are subject to the University's guidelines for such appointments. The school's policies are consistent with those of the university.

The following provisions will govern the appointment, reappointment and promotion of regular and non-regular faculty in the Sinclair School of Nursing.
