Welcome to the Sinclair School of Nursing. Nursing at the University of Missouri dates back to 1901. We are part of the first land grant university west of the Mississippi and member of the prestigious Association of American Universities since 1908. Our program offerings, research, practice and graduates all contribute to MU’s world-class reputation. We are part of the Academic Health Center which is located on the University’s campus. This affiliation means we work closely with the School of Medicine, School of Health Professions and the University Hospitals and Clinics.
Our programs are many and are tailored for contemporary professional relevance and excellence. Bachelor’s degree options in nursing are available for post high school graduates, for those already having an RN license and for second career students with a degree in another discipline. We have a master’s program for specialization in nursing leadership (administration) and nursing education. Our doctoral programs include a PhD (research preparation) and a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) for advanced practice clinical nurse specialists in adult-gerontology and pediatrics, and nurse practitioner preparations in family, pediatrics and family psychiatric mental health. We also have a DNP in Nursing Leadership: Innovations in Health Care. Whatever the specific focus of our programs, we prepare nursing leaders. Our nurses learn and work side by side in a collaborative environment with other health professionals. Our faculty are committed to person centered teaching and are gifted with the latest teaching technologies.
This is truly an exciting time for nursing. New opportunities abound for work, for influencing health care, and for discovery of new knowledge. The ability to advance in nursing, professionally and academically, is without limits. We invite you to explore these pages, learn about our school and come visit us. Mizzou may be the place for you.
